PCACC Orders Retired Civil Servants to Exit Service Within 48 Hours
By Our Correspondent
The Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission (PCACC) has directed all retired civil servants who are still in government service to vacate their positions within 48 hours in compliance with Circular No. 10/2026 issued by the Office of the Head of Civil Service.
In a statement signed by the Acting Executive Chairman of the Commission, Hafsat Ada’u Kutama, Esq dated October 6, 2026, said the commission had noted with serious concern the continued stay of some retired officers in government service despite attaining the mandatory retirement age or years of service. It described the practice as a violation of the Kano State Civil Service Rules and an act that undermines government resources.
The Commission warned that the continued collection of salaries and use of government property after retirement amounts to economic sabotage and would attract appropriate investigation and legal action.
As part of measures to enforce compliance, PCACC directed all Permanent Secretaries and Directors of Administration in Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) to submit, on or before Friday, October 10, 2026, the names of officers who have retired but are still occupying government offices.
The Commission also announced the establishment of a confidential whistleblower channel, urging civil servants and members of the public to report any retired officer still occupying office through 08034677340.
PCACC further warned that any officer found receiving salary after retirement, or anyone aiding such payments, would be investigated in accordance with the law.
The statement was signed by the Acting Executive Chairman of the Commission, Hafsat Ada’u Kutama, Esq
