The Kano State Government has allocated more than 1,000 plots of land to party marshalls and community-based support groups as part of its strategy to empower young people, expand land ownership, promote planned urban development, and stimulate economic growth across the state.

Speaking during the distribution ceremony, Governor Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf represented by the Secretary to the State Government Alhaji Umar Farouk Ibrahim described the initiative as a major investment in the future of Kano’s youths, emphasizing that the allocation was designed to provide beneficiaries with productive assets capable of transforming their lives and strengthening their families.
The Governor said the programme recognizes the contributions of party marshalls, volunteers and community-based security groups who have dedicated their time and efforts to supporting their communities and advancing development in the state.
He noted that the government believes every young person deserves an opportunity to succeed, regardless of past challenges, stressing that land ownership offers beneficiaries the chance to build homes, establish businesses, secure their families’ future and create lasting wealth.
Governor Yusuf urged beneficiaries to protect and develop their allocations rather than dispose of them, describing the land documents as opportunities for economic advancement rather than ordinary certificates.
He also called on the youths to channel their energy towards peaceful and productive activities by promoting development, discouraging violence, fostering unity and supporting government programmes aimed at improving the welfare of citizens.
The Governor reaffirmed that his administration remains committed to investing heavily in education, healthcare, agriculture, water supply, housing, power, roads and other critical infrastructure to improve the quality of life of the people and create sustainable economic opportunities across Kano State.
He explained that the land allocation programme complements these investments by ensuring that young people have valuable assets around which they can build their future while contributing to the state’s overall development.
Earlier in his Speech, the Commissioner for Land and Physical Planning Abduljabar Muhammad Umar said the distribution forms part of the administration’s broader policy of using land as a tool for economic empowerment, housing development and social inclusion.
According to the Commissioner, the present administration has already allocated land to several categories of beneficiaries, including over 500 Senior Special Assistants, Special Assistants and Personal Assistants, grassroots supporters across the 44 local government areas, more than 1,500 polling agents, over 100 youths drawn from the 44 LGAs, as well as other deserving groups.
He explained that land allocation generates significant economic activities by creating employment opportunities for surveyors, architects, engineers, artisans, transporters, suppliers of building materials and numerous small businesses involved in property development.
The Commissioner added that the government is committed to developing properly planned layouts equipped with roads, drainage systems, schools, healthcare facilities, markets, mosques and other public infrastructure to ensure sustainable urban growth and prevent the emergence of poorly planned settlements.
He urged beneficiaries to preserve and develop their plots responsibly, noting that ownership of land provides a strong foundation for housing, entrepreneurship and long-term economic security.
