Katsina Pays ₦2bn Compensation for CPS–Kofar Yandaka Road

The Katsina State Government has disbursed more than ₦2 billion in compensation to property owners affected by the construction of the CPS–Kofar Yandaka Road as part of its ongoing urban renewal programme.
The compensation cheques were presented to beneficiaries at the Katsina Local Government Secretariat by the Commissioner for Lands and Survey, Dr. Faisal Kaita, represented by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Aminu Ibrahim.

Speaking at the event, Aminu Ibrahim said the road project was designed to decongest the Katsina metropolitan area, improve traffic flow and stimulate economic activities across the state. He explained that the CPS–Kofar Yandaka Road is one of the flagship urban renewal projects of the administration of Governor Dikko Umar Radda, aimed at expanding the city and improving infrastructure.
He urged residents whose properties were affected by the project to vacate the area within the next two weeks to enable contractors to commence work without delay.
“We appeal to all affected residents to cooperate fully with the contractors to ensure the smooth execution of the project,” he said.
Also speaking, the member representing Katsina Local Government, Ali Abu Alibaba, commended Governor Radda for approving the long-awaited road project, noting that it had remained on the state’s master plan for more than four decades.
“We have agitated for this road project for over 40 years. Today, we thank Almighty Allah that our dream has become a reality,” he said.
Alibaba noted that the project would not only ease traffic congestion but also enhance commercial activities and improve the aesthetic outlook of the state capital. He advised beneficiaries of the compensation to invest the funds wisely for the benefit of their families and future.
In his remarks, the Vice Chairman of Katsina Local Government, Usman Yusuf Saulawa, said the state had witnessed remarkable development in infrastructure, education, water supply, economic development and youth empowerment during the three years of Governor Radda’s administration.
He reaffirmed the commitment of the local government council to supporting the successful implementation of the CPS–Kofar Yandaka Road project and other ongoing developmental initiatives across the area.
