The Cross River State Government has extended the dusk-to-dawn curfew imposed on the disputed boundary between Ugep and Idomi communities in Yakurr Local Government Area by an additional one week.
The extension takes effect from 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, 23 June 2026, to 6:00 a.m. on Monday, 29 June 2026.
In a statement issued by the Commissioner for Information, Dr. Erasmus Ekpang, the government explained that the extension is to allow the State Surveyor General and his technical team to complete the boundary demarcation of the disputed land while sustaining peace and preventing a breakdown of law and order.

The statement noted that security agencies have been directed to strictly enforce the curfew between 6:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. daily. Residents of the affected communities were urged to comply fully with the directive and report any suspicious activities to security agencies. It warned that anyone found violating the curfew would be arrested and prosecuted.
The government also called on the Executive Chairman of Yakurr Local Government Area, the Obol Lopon of Ugep, the Obol Lopon of Idomi, and other stakeholders from both communities to continue working closely with security agencies by promoting peaceful coexistence and encouraging residents to remain calm throughout the boundary demarcation exercise.
The Cross River State Government expressed regret over the prolonged dispute and reaffirmed its commitment to resolving the land disagreement fairly, peacefully, and in the overall interest of the state’s development and unity.
