Kano NUJ Mourns Media Icon Adamu Getso, Hails His Enduring Legacy in Journalism and Public Service

The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Kano State Council, has received with deep sorrow the news of the passing of one of Kano State’s most distinguished media personalities, veteran journalist and former media executive, Alhaji Adamu Ibrahim Getso.

In a statement issued on Tuesday and signed by the Council Secretary, Hauwa Suleiman Zahradeen, the Acting Chairman of the Council, Comrade Mustapha Gambo, extended the union’s heartfelt condolences to the immediate family of the deceased, friends, associates, and the entire Getso community in Gwarzo Local Government Area over the painful and irreparable loss.

The Council described the late Adamu Getso as an exceptional broadcaster, seasoned media administrator, and committed professional whose contributions to journalism, public enlightenment, and societal development left an indelible mark on Kano State and beyond. According to the Acting Chairman, the deceased dedicated decades of his life to informing, educating, and inspiring the public through responsible and impactful broadcasting.

“Alhaji Adamu Getso was a versatile and accomplished media executive whose commitment to journalism and public service earned him widespread respect and admiration. His contributions to the media landscape remain invaluable, while his dedication to promoting public awareness and good governance will continue to inspire generations of journalists,” Comrade Gambo stated.

The Council particularly acknowledged Getso’s remarkable role as a lead anchor and presenter of major political and developmental programmes during both the first and second administrations of His Excellency, Dr. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso. Through his professionalism, eloquence, and mastery of broadcasting, he played a significant role in bridging the gap between government and the people, helping to shape public discourse on critical issues affecting the state.

While mourning the loss of a respected colleague and mentor, the NUJ Kano State Council noted that the late Adamu Getso’s voice, wisdom, and unwavering commitment to excellence will be greatly missed by the media community and the people he served throughout his distinguished career.

The Council prayed to Almighty Allah (SWT) to forgive his shortcomings, grant him eternal rest in Jannatul Firdaus, and provide his family, friends, and associates with the strength and fortitude to bear this great loss.

The NUJ Kano State Council stands in solidarity with the media fraternity, the people of Kano State, and the family of the deceased during this period of mourning and remembrance.
