Abba Yusuf’s ICT and Security Revolution Across Kano’s 44 LGAs
The Kano State Government under the leadership of Governor Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf has continued to demonstrate a strong commitment towards improving the lives of citizens through strategic investments in security, technology, healthcare and grassroots development.
The latest initiatives announced by the administration represent a clear demonstration of foresight and a people-oriented approach aimed at ensuring that residents across the 44 Local Government Areas of the state have access to modern facilities, improved security and essential government services.
One of the major highlights of the administration’s latest interventions is the approval of ₦27.806 billion for the establishment of modern Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres across all 44 Local Government Areas of Kano State.
The initiative, announced by the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Alhaji Muhammad Tajuddin Uthman, is a landmark step towards bridging the digital divide and expanding access to technology-driven education, especially for students and youths in rural communities.
Bringing Digital Opportunities Closer to the People
For many years, students from rural areas of Kano have faced serious challenges accessing CBT facilities, often travelling long distances to Kano metropolis to sit for examinations conducted electronically.
Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s decision to establish ICT and CBT centres in all 44 LGAs will change this narrative by bringing digital facilities closer to communities.
According to Commissioner Uthman, the centres will not only serve as examination venues but will also function as digital learning hubs where residents can access computers, internet services, online education platforms, entrepreneurship resources and e-government services.
Each centre will be equipped with 300 computers and designed with three examination halls capable of accommodating 100 candidates each, providing a total capacity of 300 users at a time.
This ambitious project reflects the administration’s understanding that the future of education, employment and economic development is increasingly tied to digital knowledge and technological skills.

The Kano State Government has also revealed plans to establish electric vehicle charging points within the metropolitan area as part of efforts to promote cleaner and more affordable transportation.
The initiative will support users of electric motorcycles and tricycles while encouraging the adoption of alternative energy solutions.
