Foundation Establishes Three Elderly Care Homes to Support Vulnerable Senior Citizens in Katsina
A renowned philanthropist, Hasiya Abdulrahman, has established three elderly care homes in Katsina State to provide safe accommodation, healthcare services, and comprehensive welfare support for vulnerable senior citizens.
Speaking during the official inauguration of one of the facilities in Dandagoro town, Katsina State, Hasiya Abdulrahman said the care homes were established and are being fully funded and managed by her foundation as part of its commitment to improving the quality of life of elderly people.

She explained that the initiative was inspired by the need to ensure that older persons receive the care, dignity, and comfort they deserve, particularly those who can no longer adequately cater for themselves.
According to her, the care homes will provide residents with comfortable accommodation, regular meals, and access to quality healthcare services through qualified medical professionals who will attend to their medical needs.
She noted that the facilities were created to ensure that vulnerable elderly citizens are not abandoned or left to struggle alone in their old age.
Hasiya revealed that the inspiration for the project came from elderly care facilities she visited during a trip to the United Kingdom.
«”I was impressed by the structured support available for older people in such facilities and decided to adapt the idea to meet the needs of vulnerable elderly people in Katsina State,” she said.»
She emphasized that the project was established entirely through her foundation without financial assistance from the government or private donors.
The philanthropist further disclosed that her foundation also operates migrant homes and orphanages as part of its broader humanitarian interventions across the state.
According to her, the foundation has so far supported 21 families through various humanitarian programmes and has rescued vulnerable children engaged in street begging and hawking by enrolling them in schools to secure a better future.
Hasiya Abdulrahman called on governments at all levels, non-governmental organizations, corporate bodies, and other philanthropists to strengthen collaboration in supporting vulnerable members of society.
She stressed that collective efforts are essential to improving the welfare of the elderly, vulnerable children, and other disadvantaged groups, thereby promoting a more compassionate and inclusive society.
