ADUSTECH Vice Chancellor Commends Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf for Approving New Salary Structure for University Staff

The Vice Chancellor of Aliko Dangote University of Science and Technology (ADUSTECH), Wudil, Professor Musa Tukur Yakasai, has expressed profound appreciation to the Executive Governor of Kano State, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, for approving the implementation of a new salary structure for the University’s Academic and Non-Teaching Staff.
The newly approved salary package aligns with the Federal Government’s remuneration structure currently being implemented in Federal Universities across Nigeria, reflecting the Kano State Government’s commitment to improving the welfare of university personnel and strengthening higher education.
In a statement issued on Monday by the Head of the University’s Information and Public Affairs Unit, Abdullahi Datti Abdullahi, the Vice Chancellor said members of staff received the Governor’s approval with immense joy and gratitude.
Professor Yakasai described the approval as a clear demonstration of Governor Yusuf’s unwavering commitment to workers’ welfare and the advancement of the education sector in Kano State.
According to the Vice Chancellor, the improved salary structure will significantly enhance staff welfare, boost morale, increase productivity, and inspire greater dedication, professionalism, and excellence in teaching, research, innovation, and community service.
He noted that the intervention comes at a critical period when universities across the country are grappling with the challenges of rising living costs and the need to retain experienced academic and non-teaching professionals.
Professor Yakasai conveyed the appreciation of the University’s Governing Council, Management, Academic and Non-Teaching Staff to Governor Yusuf for what he described as a timely, visionary, and people-centred decision that will positively impact the institution’s growth and development.
He assured the Governor that the University community would reciprocate the gesture through renewed commitment to academic excellence, research, innovation, and quality service delivery, in line with the University’s mandate of producing skilled manpower for national development.
The Vice Chancellor further pledged that the University Management would ensure the seamless implementation of the approved salary review in strict compliance with all relevant government directives.
He also urged members of staff to remain committed to supporting the University’s administration in its collective efforts to position ADUSTECH among Nigeria’s leading institutions of science, technology, and innovation.
Professor Yakasai prayed for continued wisdom, strength, and success for Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf as he continues to implement policies aimed at improving workers’ welfare and transforming the education sector in Kano State.
It will be recalled that the Kano State Executive Council recently approved the sum of ₦228,195,210.83 for the implementation of the salary review, comprising ₦141,082,223.37 for Academic Staff under the ASUU agreement and ₦87,112,987.46 for Non-Academic Staff under the SSANU agreement.
The new salary structure will take effect from September 2026, while arrears covering January to August 2026 will be accommodated in the 2027 Kano State Budget.
