The Special Adviser to the Governor of Kano State on Publicity, Hon. Ahmed S. Aruwa, has dismissed recent claims by former Governor Dr. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso that there is no water supply in Kano State, insisting that the administration of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has restored water services to many parts of the state through ongoing rehabilitation of water infrastructure.
Speaking with journalists on Saturday, Aruwa described the former governor’s remarks as inaccurate and not reflective of the current situation on the ground.
KANO ALLOCATES LAND TO 1,000 YOUNG PEOPLE ACROSS 44 LGAs
According to him, the state government has embarked on a comprehensive rehabilitation and overhaul of water treatment plants aimed at restoring sustainable water supply across Kano metropolis and several local government areas.
“The former governor appears to be unaware of the significant progress that has been made in the water sector. Water supply has already been restored in Kano metropolis and many other local government areas,” Aruwa stated.
He explained that he had personally undertaken an assessment tour of water facilities and communities across the state to verify the progress of the ongoing interventions and to provide the public with first-hand information on the improvements being recorded.
As part of the exercise, Aruwa announced plans to visit Madobi Local Government Area, the hometown of the former governor, to demonstrate that residents are receiving water supply. He added that the assessment tour would also cover Gabasawa, Gezawa, Yankaba, Kawaji, Gaya, Wudil, Goron Dutse, Tamburawa and other communities across the state.
According to the Special Adviser, the visits are intended to provide factual evidence of the government’s achievements in the water sector and keep residents informed about the ongoing efforts to improve access to potable water.
Aruwa commended Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf for prioritising the rehabilitation of critical public infrastructure and restoring essential social services for the benefit of the people of Kano State.
He also praised the Commissioner for Water Resources, Dr. Dahiru Hashim, for his commitment and leadership in implementing the administration’s water sector reforms.
The Special Adviser appealed to residents to continue supporting the government’s initiatives aimed at improving water supply and other essential public services across Kano State.
