The Kano State Government has allocated land to 1,000 young men and women across the state’s 44 Local Government Areas in a major youth empowerment and home‑ownership initiative.

Representing Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf at the presentation ceremony in Coronation Hall, Government House, Secretary to the State Government Alhaji Farouk Umar Ibrahim said the programme aims to provide productive assets that enable economic independence and long‑term wealth creation for youth.

Governor Yusuf described land as a vital appreciating asset that creates opportunities and family security. He said the allotments are within government‑approved, professionally designed layouts featuring access roads, drainage, schools, healthcare, places of worship, parks, markets and security infrastructure. Beneficiaries were urged to view their allocation documents as instruments of dignity and opportunity, to protect them, and to develop rather than sell plots for short‑term gain.

The Commissioner for Land and Physical Planning, Alhaji Abduljabbar Muhammad Umar, said the scheme promotes orderly development and distinguishes approved layouts from illegal ones. He reiterated the government’s determination to fight illegal land grabbing (“Awan Igiya”), recover public lands, prosecute offenders and restore integrity to land administration.

Beneficiaries thanked Governor Yusuf and pledged to protect their documents, develop their plots responsibly, and support lawful land ownership and planned development across Kano State.
