The Chairman of the National Sports Commission (NSC), Alhaji Shehu Dikko, has reaffirmed the Commission’s commitment to partnering with the City Boy Movement in advancing youth empowerment initiatives and improving the living standards of young Nigerians through sports and other developmental programmes.
Alhaji Dikko gave the assurance while receiving the Youth Leader of the City Boy Movement, Sokoto State Chapter, Alhaji Shehu Abdullahi, during a courtesy visit to his office.

The NSC Chairman stated that the Commission remains open to strategic collaborations that will expand opportunities for young people and strengthen grassroots structures for sustainable youth development across the country.
He described the visit as a valuable opportunity to explore how the sports sector can contribute meaningfully to broader youth empowerment efforts through grassroots talent discovery, increased sporting opportunities, and structured programmes that equip young people with skills for sustainable livelihoods.
According to him, the National Sports Commission is committed to supporting initiatives that harness the potential of Nigerian youths and promote inclusive national development through sports.
Earlier, the Youth Leader of the City Boy Movement, Sokoto State Chapter, and former Nigerian international footballer, Alhaji Shehu Abdullahi, said the visit was aimed at strengthening collaboration with the National Sports Commission on the Youth Employment Programme Initiative (YEP I).
He explained that the initiative is a grassroots-driven programme designed to create sustainable opportunities for young people in Sokoto State and across the North-West geopolitical zone.
Alhaji Abdullahi noted that the Youth Employment Programme Initiative adopts a multi-sectoral approach to youth development, with key focus areas including sports development, digital empowerment, entrepreneurship, financial inclusion, renewable energy, creative industries, and youth investment.
He added that the programme also seeks to identify and nurture grassroots sporting talents, support football academies with equipment and other resources, establish competitive platforms for young athletes, and improve access to sports and technology facilities.
The youth leader expressed appreciation to the Chairman of the National Sports Commission for the warm reception accorded him and commended Alhaji Shehu Dikko for his dedication and commitment to restoring the glory of sports development in Nigeria.
