Katsina to Begin ₦4 Billion Community Grant Disbursement

The Katsina State Government is set to commence the disbursement of ₦4 billion in community development grants to communities across the state’s 361 political wards to support the rehabilitation of dilapidated public infrastructure.
The State Coordinator of the Community Development Programme (CDP), Dr. Kamaluddeen Kabir, disclosed this while speaking with journalists on the sidelines of the ongoing 2027 pre-budget defence in Katsina on Monday.

Dr. Kabir said the programme is awaiting the approval of Governor Dikko Umaru Radda before the funds are released, adding that each community will receive ₦10 million for the execution of priority development projects identified by the communities themselves.
He explained that the grants are intended for immediate utilization to address minor repairs and other pressing community needs.
According to him, the state government disbursed ₦5 billion under the programme in 2025 and has also proposed ₦5 billion for the initiative in the 2027 budget.
The coordinator noted that the funds are sourced jointly from the Katsina State Government and the 34 Local Government Councils, stressing that outstanding-performing communities may receive additional allocations subject to the approval of the Governor.
Dr. Kabir urged beneficiary communities to ensure prudent and transparent utilization of the grants, warning that any community found diverting the funds for personal or unauthorized purposes would face appropriate sanctions.
He also advised communities to actively monitor the implementation of projects they proposed for inclusion in the 2027 budget, urging them to hold the relevant ministries, departments and agencies accountable for their execution.
