KNSG Distributes Over 2,000 Residential Plots to Public Servants in Historic Allocation Scheme

In a historic step towards expanding housing access and promoting structured urban development, the Kano State Government has commenced the distribution of over 2,000 residential land plot allocation letters to public servants, political appointees, and key stakeholders.
The two-day distribution initiative targets senior special reporters, special assistants, personal assistants, and polling agents across the state. Speaking at the event, the Commissioner for Land and Physical Planning, Hon. Abduljabbar Muhammad Umar, highlighted that this exercise marks an unprecedented milestone in the state’s administrative history.
“Based on our records at the Ministry of Land and Physical Planning, a scheme of this scale has never occurred in the history of Kano State,” declared Hon. Abduljabbar. “Within just two days, His Excellency Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf is approaching or surpassing the total allocations of past administrations. This is a clear demonstration of the priority this government places on public welfare, homeownership, and securing lasting assets for our citizens.”
KNSG Cracks Down on Illegal Government Land Sales, Arrests Two
Delivering a message on behalf of the Executive Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, the Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Umar Farouk Ibrahim, emphasized that the allocation honors explicit campaign pledges.
“A just government honors its word. Today, His Excellency made a promise, and today he fulfilled it,” said Alhaji Umar Farouk Ibrahim. “These allocations should not be viewed merely as pieces of paper, but as historical milestones and stepping stones for personal and community progress.”
Unlike previous informal land allocations, the state government emphasized that the newly distributed plots are situated within fully planned government layouts designed according to modern standards. These areas incorporate wide access roads, drainage networks for flood prevention, and designated sites for schools, hospitals, mosques, parks, and security outposts.
The Ministry of Land and Physical Planning used the platform to reiterate its crackdown on illegal land agents and unauthorized developments.
Hon. Abduljabbar revealed that security agencies recently arrested a key ringleader involved in fake plot sales and land grabbing in the Rimin Zakara axis. The government reassured victims of the long-standing Rimin Zakara land disputes that the official plot distribution and compensation schemes will resume shortly, following brief delays caused by illegal interference.
