KSPHCMB, Partners Convene Stakeholders on Human Resources and Health Systems Strengthening

The Kano State Primary Health Care Management Board (KSPHCMB), in collaboration with the Hope, Compassion & Mercy Foundation (HCMF) and other key health stakeholders, on Thursday convened the Strengthening State & National Systems (SSNS) Project Kick-Off Meeting in Kano as part of efforts to strengthen transparency, accountability, and sustainable governance structures within the health sector.
The meeting, held at Comfort Hub & Suites, Kano, brought together representatives of government agencies, development partners, and stakeholders in the health sector to deliberate on the project’s objectives, implementation strategies, and institutional responsibilities.
In a statement signed by the Public Relations officer of the Board Sa’adatu Suleiman disclosed that, Discussions at the meeting centered on the introduction of the SSNS Project goals, the establishment of governance and implementation frameworks, as well as the presentation of the “Gombe State Blueprint” as an evidence-based model for improving transparency, fairness, and effective personnel management through biometric systems.

Participants also explored strategies aimed at strengthening institutional systems capable of sustaining reforms beyond the 2027 transition period.
Speaking during the meeting, the Director General of KSPHCMB, Professor Salisu Ahmad Ibrahim, commended the Hope, Compassion & Mercy Foundation and development partners for their support toward strengthening human resource management and institutional accountability in the health sector.
Professor Ibrahim reaffirmed the commitment of the Kano State Government under the leadership of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf to initiatives that promote transparency, efficiency, and improved healthcare service delivery across the state.
The meeting further resolved on key action points to ensure effective implementation of the project. These include engagement meetings with SPHCMB Management, planning sessions for a study tour, collaboration with the leadership of the Human Resources for Health Technical Working Group (HRH-TWG), and the conduct of regular HRH-TWG meetings to sustain coordination and accountability.
