Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, has signed the state’s 2027 Appropriation Law valued at ₦828,578,844,091.48, describing it as a people-oriented budget designed to accelerate development and improve the welfare of citizens.

Speaking during the signing ceremony held at the Government House Banquet Hall on Wednesday, Governor Radda commended the Katsina State House of Assembly for the swift consideration and passage of the budget, describing the feat as a testament to the strong collaboration between the executive and legislative arms of government.

The governor said the 2027 Appropriation Law provides for a total expenditure of ₦828.58 billion, covering both recurrent and capital expenditures. He noted that the budget was signed on September 30, nearly two months earlier than the previous year’s appropriation law, which received assent on November 17, underscoring the administration’s commitment to timely planning and effective governance.

Governor Radda also praised the Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning for the early preparation of the budget proposal and expressed appreciation to members of the State Executive Council and the House of Assembly for their support throughout the budget process.

Describing the document as a “people-oriented budget,” the governor explained that it was developed through consultations and inputs from communities across the state rather than through a top-down approach. He urged ministries, departments and agencies to ensure the prompt implementation of projects and programmes contained in the budget, with emphasis on delivering measurable benefits to the people.

Earlier, the Katsina State House of Assembly formally presented the 2027 Appropriation Law to the governor following its passage by the legislature.

Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Nasiru Yahaya, said the Assembly had concluded all constitutional and legislative processes required for the approval of the budget. He disclosed that the approved budget comprises ₦190.73 billion for recurrent expenditure and ₦637.85 billion for capital expenditure.

The Speaker congratulated Governor Radda for becoming the first governor in Nigeria to sign the 2027 Appropriation Bill into law, describing the milestone as a reflection of the administration’s dedication to prudent planning, fiscal discipline and responsive governance.

The signing ceremony was attended by principal officers and members of the Katsina State House of Assembly, members of the State Executive Council, senior government officials, party leaders and other stakeholders
