The Kano State Ministry of Planning and Budget has commenced the 2027 Budget Bilateral Discussions with Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) in the Infrastructural Sector as part of preparations for the state’s 2027 fiscal year.
Speaking at the opening session held at the Ministry’s Conference Hall, Commissioner for Planning and Budget, Hon. Musa Suleiman Shanono, said the exercise is designed to review the implementation of the 2026 Budget while critically assessing the 2027 budget proposals submitted by the sector’s MDAs.
He explained that the 2027 Budget is being developed in line with the 2027–2029 Medium-Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF), with emphasis on completing ongoing projects, ensuring realistic project costing through Bills of Quantities (BoQs), and aligning all proposed projects with the Kano State Development Plan.
According to the Commissioner, the bilateral discussions provide an opportunity for government institutions to refine their budget proposals, strengthen fiscal discipline and ensure that public resources are allocated to priority projects that will deliver sustainable infrastructure and improved public services across the state.
In her welcome address, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Hajiya Umma Dallatu, welcomed participants from the Infrastructural Sector and encouraged them to actively contribute to the discussions to produce a realistic, practical and implementable 2027 Budget.
In a statement signed by the Public Relations officer of the Ministry Aisha Iliyasu Musa stated that, The Ministry noted that the budget bilateral discussions will continue with MDAs from other sectors in the coming days as part of the state’s annual budget preparation process.
