Kano Introduces LGA Medical Screening for 2027 Hajj

The Kano State Pilgrims Welfare Board has announced plans to introduce a Local Government Area (LGA)-based medical screening programme for intending pilgrims participating in the 2027 Hajj exercise.
The Director-General of the Board, Alhaji Abubakar Ibrahim Matawalle, disclosed this during a one-hour edition of the Fitila programme aired on Radio Kano.

According to the Director-General, the initiative is designed to make the mandatory medical screening process more convenient and accessible, particularly for intending pilgrims residing in rural communities across Kano State. The outreach programme is expected to reduce the burden of travel while ensuring that all pilgrims undergo the required health assessment before departure.
Alhaji Matawalle also revealed that the Board would introduce additional operational measures once the registration and uploading of all intending pilgrims to the Hajj server had been completed.
He further called on all intending pilgrims who are yet to submit their international passports to do so on or before 31 August 2026, stressing that the deadline would not be extended.
“The submission and uploading of international passports is a critical requirement for the 2027 Hajj exercise. There will be no extension beyond the stipulated deadline, and all intending pilgrims are strongly advised to comply without delay,” he stated.
The Director-General expressed appreciation to the Kano State Government under the leadership of His Excellency, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, for its unwavering support and commitment to improving the welfare and services provided to pilgrims in the state.
