The Kano State Consumer Protection Council (KCPC) has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening collaboration with the Gwale Local Government Hisbah Command to combat the circulation of adulterated, substandard, and expired products across the state.

The Executive Secretary of the Council, Dr. Ibrahim Garba Muhammad, made this known while receiving a delegation from the Gwale Local Government Hisbah Command, led by its Commander, Malam Nura Wada Ishaq, during a courtesy visit to his office.
Dr. Ibrahim stated that the Kano State Consumer Protection Council was established to protect consumers from hazards that threaten their health, safety, and economic well-being, thereby contributing to sustainable development across the state.
He noted that effective collaboration with relevant government agencies, community-based organisations, and members of the public is essential to achieving the Council’s mandate, particularly in identifying and removing adulterated, substandard, and expired products from the market.
In a statement signed by Tasiu Jibo Dawanau the Public Relations officer of the Council stated that, The Executive Secretary reaffirmed the Council’s readiness to work closely with the Hisbah Command and other stakeholders to facilitate the timely exchange of information that would enhance surveillance, enforcement, and consumer protection efforts throughout Kano State.
He also warned manufacturers, small-scale industries, distributors, traders, and retailers against the production, distribution, or sale of adulterated and substandard products, stressing that the Council would not hesitate to invoke the full weight of the law against anyone found violating consumer protection regulations.
Earlier, the Commander of the Gwale Local Government Hisbah Command, Malam Nura Wada Ishaq, said the visit was to congratulate Dr. Ibrahim Garba Muhammad on his appointment as Executive Secretary of the Council and to seek a stronger partnership between the two agencies.
He expressed the Hisbah Command’s commitment to supporting the Council’s efforts in safeguarding the rights and interests of consumers, noting that enhanced collaboration would help ensure safer markets and protect the public from harmful products.
The meeting concluded with both organisations expressing their resolve to deepen cooperation in promoting consumer safety, public awareness, and effective enforcement of consumer protection laws in Kano State.
