Kano Confirms 14 May 2026 as First Pilgrims’ Flight Date, Says Preparations Complete

The Kano State Pilgrims Welfare Board has fixed 14 May 2026 as the commencement date for the first pilgrimage flight from Kano to Saudi Arabia ahead of the 2026 Hajj.

The Director General of the Board, Alhaji Abubakar Ibrahim Matawalle, announced the date today during the closing ceremony of the Hajj Induction Course held at the School for Arabic Studies, Kano.
According to the schedule released by the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), Kano State will begin its inaugural flight on 14 May 2026, with Max Air as the designated carrier, Matawalle stated. He added that the Board has completed all necessary arrangements in advance to ensure smooth and successful Hajj operations.
In his remarks, the Board’s Chairman, Alhaji Yusuf Lawan, urged pilgrims to regularly review their Hajj induction materials at home for their own benefit. He also advised them to strictly adhere to the rules and regulations set by both Nigerian and Saudi Arabian authorities throughout the pilgrimage.

In a statement signed by the Public Relations officer of the Board Sulaiman Abdullahi Dederi disclosed that, Representatives of security agencies and service partners involved in the pilgrimage including Immigration, NDLEA, Hajj Tribunal, National Orientation Agency (NOA), Max Air, and Hisbah—delivered messages during the occasion.
