Governor Abba Meets Rurum, Dan’agundi Amid Fresh Emirate Developments
Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, on Wednesday night held a closed-door meeting with the member representing Rano/Bunkure/Kibiya Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Kabiru Alhassan Rurum, and the Director-General of the National Productivity Centre, Dr. Baffa Babba Dan’agundi, at the Government House, Kano.
The meeting, which reportedly lasted for nearly two hours, took place behind closed doors, with its agenda not disclosed to the public.
Sources familiar with the development said Hon. Rurum and Dr. Dan’agundi arrived at the Government House at about 10:30 p.m. and proceeded directly to the Governor’s office. Governor Yusuf was later seen escorting the two guests out of the premises after the meeting.
Although the purpose of the meeting could not be independently verified, it comes amid ongoing public interest in developments surrounding the Kano Emirate.
When contacted, Hon. Rurum neither confirmed nor denied the nature of the meeting, saying there was nothing unusual about meeting “my friend, my brother and my political leader.”
Similarly, Dr. Dan’agundi confirmed he met with the Governor but declined to discuss the issues raised, describing the engagement as “a family affair.”
Meanwhile, Emir Muhammadu Sanusi II was reportedly seen riding a horse despite the Kano State Government’s recent restriction on horse-riding activities within the Kano metropolis. The restriction was announced earlier this week as part of measures aimed at maintaining public order amid the current security situation.
In a related development, Alhaji Aminu Babba Dan’agundi, Sarkin Dawaki Babba and Senior Counsellor to the 15th Emir of Kano, Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero, said the Emir was away on an official engagement and urged his supporters to remain calm pending his return on Monday.
He stated that the Bayero camp would observe the government’s response to the reported development before announcing arrangements for the Emir’s proposed traditional horse-riding procession to Yakasai for a Qur’anic graduation ceremony.
As of the time of filing this report, the Kano State Government had not issued an official statement on either the outcome of the meeting or the reported horse-riding incident.
