The Kano State Health Trust Fund (KHETFUND) has conducted a pre-funding verification exercise at Dawakin Kudu General Hospital as part of efforts to ensure that proposed healthcare interventions are properly assessed and that beneficiary facilities are adequately prepared for effective implementation and long-term sustainability.
In a statement signed by the Public Relations officer of the Agency Amina Lawan Isa disclosed that, The verification team, led by the Executive Secretary of KHETFUND, Dr. Fatima Usman Zahradeen, was received by the hospital management, members of the community, and representatives of the District Head, Dan Makwayon Kano, Alhaji Abba Yusuf. The proposed intervention includes the installation of a solar power system to improve electricity supply and enhance healthcare service delivery at the hospital.
Speaking during the exercise, Dr. Fatima explained that pre-funding verification is a key component of KHETFUND’s operational process, carried out after healthcare institutions submit requests for intervention. She noted that the exercise enables the Fund to assess the suitability of proposed projects and confirm the readiness of beneficiary facilities before funding is approved.
She stated that the verification covers critical areas, including the security of the facility and equipment, protection against vandalism, the availability of maintenance arrangements and qualified personnel, as well as the hospital’s capacity to ensure proper utilisation of the interventions.
The Executive Secretary urged the hospital management and staff to ensure that all equipment and facilities provided through KHETFUND interventions are properly utilised, safeguarded and maintained for the benefit of patients and the surrounding communities.
Dr. Fatima also stressed the importance of maintaining high standards of hygiene and cleanliness within the hospital environment. In addition, she advised the management to establish and enforce appropriate visiting hours for patients’ relatives, noting that regulated visitation would promote order, protect patients’ privacy and create a more conducive atmosphere for quality healthcare delivery.
Earlier, the Chief Medical Officer of Dawakin Kudu General Hospital, Dr. Aliyu Gurjiya, expressed appreciation to the Executive Secretary and the management of KHETFUND for their continued commitment to strengthening healthcare services across Kano State.
Dr. Gurjiya assured the delegation that the hospital would ensure the proper utilisation, maintenance and security of all equipment and facilities provided through the intervention.
