Kano Awards ₦27.8 Billion Contract for ICT/CBT Centres Across 44 Local Government Areas

The Kano State Government has awarded contracts worth ₦27,806,392,540 for the construction of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and Computer-Based Test (CBT) Centres across the 44 Local Government Areas of the state.
The landmark initiative is designed to expand access to digital education, computer-based examinations, and technology-driven skills acquisition, particularly for young people at the grassroots.
Speaking during the contract award ceremony held at the Conference Hall of the Ministry for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, the Commissioner, Alhaji Mohammed Tajo Othman, described the project as a historic milestone in Kano State’s drive towards digital transformation and youth empowerment.
According to the Commissioner, the project reflects the visionary leadership and commitment of the Executive Governor of Kano State, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, to building a technologically advanced and knowledge-driven society.
“This historic achievement would not have been possible without the vision and foresight of His Excellency, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf. By bringing ICT/CBT Centres to every Local Government Area, we are taking digital opportunities closer to our people and preparing our youth for the future,” Alhaji Tajo Othman stated.
He explained that each ICT/CBT Centre will be equipped with modern facilities, including 300 computers, high-capacity internet connectivity, and uninterrupted electricity powered through the national grid, solar energy, and standby generators to ensure continuous operations.
The Commissioner noted that the project is the first of its kind to be implemented simultaneously across all 44 Local Government Areas in Nigeria and is expected to be completed within 16 to 18 weeks.
The contracts were awarded to the following indigenous companies:
Odaleg Properties and Constructions Limited
– Aytaam Construction Limited
– Trusted Development
– KODAK PRIME
– VIND R&D Partnership Limited
– Cornerstone Construction & Engineering Limited
He further disclosed that Vivid RBD Partnership Limited has been appointed as the Project Consultant to oversee project implementation and ensure strict quality assurance throughout the execution period.
Responding on behalf of the contractors, the companies expressed appreciation to the Kano State Government for the confidence reposed in them. They pledged to execute the projects in accordance with approved specifications, maintain the highest quality standards, and complete the work within the stipulated timeframe.
Alhaji Tajo Othman added that monitoring teams from both the Ministry and the respective Local Government Areas will conduct regular inspections to ensure timely delivery and compliance with project specifications.
Upon completion, the ICT/CBT Centres are expected to create employment opportunities, facilitate the conduct of computer-based examinations by JAMB, WAEC, NECO, and other examination bodies, while also serving as centres for digital literacy, ICT training, innovation, and skills development across Kano State.
