The Magistrate Court No. 47  sitting at Zungeru in Kano remanded the two men at a correctional centre over allegations of conspiring to demolish a bridge and cart away construction materials from the structure in Danjirima, Kumbotso Local Government Area.

The suspects, Danlami Sulaiman, popularly known as Layayu, and Abdullahi Ibrahim, also known as Maraki, were arraigned by operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) on charges of conspiracy, theft, trespass, and unlawful entry.

According to the prosecution, the accused persons allegedly visited the bridge on July 22, 2026, where they reportedly demolished parts of the structure and removed iron rods and other metal materials embedded in it. They were also accused of illegally carving out plots of land around the bridge.

During the court proceedings, the Court Registrar, Anas Zage, read the charges to the defendants. Both men pleaded not guilty to all the allegations.

Following the arraignment, the presiding Magistrate, Abba Maiwada Abubakar, ordered that the defendants be remanded in custody pending further proceedings.

The case has been adjourned until September 8, 2026, for further hearing.
