Warawa LG Chairman Orders Close Monitoring of Polio Immunization by Political Leaders

The Chairman of Warawa Local Government, Alhaji Lamido Sanusi Ahmad, has directed all elected officials, supervisory councillors, and special advisers to personally oversee the upcoming polio immunization campaign in their respective wards.
The directive was issued during a stakeholders’ meeting convened to strategize for the immunization exercise. Alhaji Ahmad emphasized that inadequate supervision by local officials has hindered polio eradication efforts and called for renewed commitment to ensure success.
“Effective monitoring is critical to achieving our goal of a polio-free Warawa,” the Chairman stated. He pledged full logistical support from the council to facilitate a smooth immunization process and instructed health officials to recruit only qualified ad-hoc staff for the exercise.
Alhaji Danjumai Abdulhamid, Head of the Local Health Department, assured that measures are being intensified to reduce non-compliance in high-risk wards. Meanwhile, Health Educator Malam Bello Jafar urged traditional and religious leaders to support community mobilization efforts, particularly in hard-to-reach settlements.
The meeting was attended by key stakeholders, including Hajia Fa’iza Muhammad Sani, a representative of the World Health Organization (WHO).
The Warawa Local Government remains committed to safeguarding public health and calls on all residents to actively participate in the immunization campaign.
