WHEN FAILURE SPEAKS: THE KANO STATE GOVERNMENT MISCHIEVOUS ATTACKS ON BARAU JIBRIL EXPOSES ITS INCOMPETENCE.

Facts vs falsehoods: Debunking the government’s baseless claim.

By Shariff Aminu Ahlan

It is quite absurd, awful, shameful, devastating, malicious, and utterly disgusting that the administration of Abba Gida-Gida could descend so low as to issue a misguided and mischievous statement accusing the Deputy Senate President of inciting bandits to attack Kano State. They shamelessly claimed that his remarks were capable of undermining security efforts in the state, a myopic and baseless allegation devoid of even a fraction of truth, one that cannot stand the scrutiny of honest observers.

It has sadly become a matter of lament and deep concern that the state government is increasingly viewed as a laughingstock, a source of comic relief whose activities appear driven by media hype rather than responsible governance. Many now see its utterances as mere content created for entertainment, and it is difficult to blame them. The government has foolishly allowed itself to be downgraded to such a pitiful level.

Why would a responsible government politicize insecurity when the state is confronted with grave threats from notorious bandits determined to sow chaos and destruction, threats similar to those terrorizing neighboring states? This terrifying scenario demands expertise, seriousness, and immediate action, especially considering that Kano had previously been insulated from such violent disruptions. Instead of developing an effective security strategy and deploying modern technologies to combat the menace, the government has chosen the cheap and irresponsible path of attacking innocent individuals who have nothing to do with the growing insecurity.

The government is now being rightfully challenged to produce any video clip or evidence showing the Deputy Senate President making statements capable of undermining security efforts. Of course, such evidence will never surface because it simply does not exist. What exists instead is a government exposing its own failures and inability to address the numerous challenges confronting the state. It continues to wrap itself in a blanket of incompetence, misgovernance, and a troubling lack of direction.

The irony in this entire brouhaha is the government’s consistent and predictable habit of attacking Senator Barau Jibrin whenever it wishes to divert attention from its failures. It is a well-known fact that the Deputy Senate President has been actively engaging stakeholders and seeking solutions to the insecurity affecting parts of the state and the nation at large.

It is a source of pride and admiration to see Senator Barau tirelessly contributing to the enhancement of security in Kano. The people are living witnesses to his efforts: providing operational vehicles to all police formations in his senatorial district and beyond, donating over one thousand motorcycles to policemen, renovating sections of the Kano State Police Command headquarters, and constructing police stations across the state.

Indeed, one can hardly identify any single individual who has contributed to Kano’s security architecture more than the Deputy Senate President. In his commitment to strengthening the state’s security infrastructure, he facilitated the establishment of the (NSCDC) Training College in Gwarzo, the Police Service Commission Training Institute in Kabo, and the Nigeria Immigration Service Training School in Bichi. These institutions stand as enduring legacies of his dedication to building a strong security defense mechanism in Kano, contributions unmatched by any other individual.

This failed government, having mastered the art of mischievous blackmail and unfounded allegations, continues exposing its dirty politics. Its irresponsible desperation is targeted at an astute politician who repeatedly outperforms and outshines them in service to the people.

When bandits attacked parts of the state, the Deputy Senate President responded swiftly by facilitating the deployment of more security personnel and ordering the installation of 500 solar streetlights in Tsanyawa. His generosity extended to neighboring communities, where he provided similar solar installations to enhance visibility and support security operations. This is in addition to the numerous solar lights already distributed across all local governments under his senatorial zone.

It is undeniable, and far beyond contest — that the Kano State government is visibly threatened by the growing popularity and acceptance of the Deputy Senate President. His rising influence is not only decimating the Kwankwasiyya structure but also leaving the administration confused, frustrated, and hallucinating as it struggles to understand how one man’s patriotic zeal could overshadow their narrow achievements. His sincere dedication to bringing development and relief to the people has made their administration appear like inexperienced toddlers grappling with the realities of governance. Instead of learning, they have chosen to engage in childish attacks and concocted lies, attacks that ironically elevate him rather than diminish him.

Pitiful.
