What a sad day! I had taken a break from my phone for two days to rest and recover from malaria. But upon switching it back on this Sunday morning, I received devastating news: Hajiya Surayya Aminu, fondly known as SAI MAMA, had passed away.
“Inna Lillahi Wa Inna Ilayhi Rajiun” (To Allah we belong and to Him we shall return).
Late Hajiya Surayya Aminu (SAI MAMA) was an extraordinary woman, known for her hard work, loyalty and dedication to her cause. She was a sister to my friend Mohammed Sa’ad. One of her admirable qualities was her commitment to Islam, evident in her modest dressing and punctual daily prayers.
I admired her unwavering loyalty to our father and mentor, His Excellency, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje (OFR), National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC). We often discussed promoting Baba Ganduje’s interests, and she would thoughtfully comment on my articles. Her enthusiasm and kindness inspired many.
Notably, anytime I posted an article in our political whattapp groups, she was among the few who would comment, showing her genuine interest in promoting our shared vision. I recall about four days ago where she wrote an article about the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), His Excellency Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje (PhD, CON). I comment by writing “EXCELLENT HONOURABLE,” and she replied, “THANK YOU OUR CAPABLE DG.” This exchange showcased her humility, loyalty and dedication.
We’ve lost a sister and a good political associate, but her legacy will live on. Words aren’t enough to express our sorrow, but we can only pray for Allah Subhanahu Wata Ala to grant her Aljannat Fiddaus.
Rest in peace, SAI MAMA.
