We are in the “American Centric” of human development. This writing said it time without number that global political, economic and social development is fast moving like a bandwagon and waits for no one. The Asian Tigers realized it was coming and they prepared for it. That’s what Chinese citizens and their leadership realized about 45 years ago and they succeeded in 2018 as the world’s second most viable economy after the United States of America.
The same thing that happened in South Korea after WW11 whereby the leadership of that nation serialized strategic planning based on children in primary and secondary schools to be patriotic citizens and forgetting about whoever is above the age of 18 years. Hence, fifty years after South Korea is now among the 30 economic emerging nations and one of the most developed nations in the entire world.
Why do our people in the North beg, especially child almajiri imbroglio? Why do our children hawk day and night for self economic prosperity? Why is Northern Nigeria region which was supposed to be the most secured region in the world but failed? Why is the region still underdeveloped and becomes one of the world’s ten most poverty areas and number one children out of school areas?
That has been what other global citizens and their leaders did not realize. Nigeria and most African nations failed to move with global development which has started since 1980. The leaders in Nigeria especially the Northern part of the country should have been fully or ready preparing, since the beginning of 1980 for development of the region. Meaning, global economic, political and social development based on innovation, science and technology. But why did the leadership fail within all those years?
The world, having prepared for global changes beginning from 1980 to the year 2030 (50 years) , Northern Nigeria could have been moving together with the global system of development. But why has the region been backwards? Most probably due to lack of qualitative leadership, serialized strategic planning based on calendar time frame.
Had it been that the leaders got ready for the year 2030 the region may have been the most developed and darling area for Foreign Direct Investments (FDR) for the world. Because the region has more potential for rapid development than the other regions of the country. Although the area is landlocked, even central Europe and Central America are landlocked but they are the most developed areas of the world; because they have qualitative and competent leadership. Qualitative leadership is what matters most in global economic and social development. Northern Nigeria has arable land, huge population, peace loving people and is connected to the West and North African Subregions for economic interplay.
*Leadership and good governance is the answer———
No nation will develop without competent, patriotic, visionary and ready to lead leaders. Leadership is a gift confined to very few in any society all around the world. No nation will develop with corrupt practices and lacking patriotism, integrity, dedication, determination, zeal, experience, intellectualism, sincerity, accountability and good governance.
The secret behind every development in the world is excellent and positive leadership of which without that there will never be development. The year 2030 is just around the corner. That year and beyond will be a testing ground for visionary and patriotic leaders in all parts of the world. The world will witness significant changes in innovation, science and technology.
But the question is what will happen in the Northern part of Nigeria at that time of global political, economic and social changes? Meaning, the time for revolutionary global changes beginning soon based on “Globalization Policy”; research on DNA, robotics, AI, electronics, technological developments, possibility of total disappearance of currencies and Dolarization of global economic interplay may become an old system. What will happen not only in Northern Nigeria but in the entire African Continent?
