SSG Tasks Education Managers on Moral Responsibility

The Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Umar Faruk Ibrahim, has urged education managers at all levels to see their duties as extending beyond teaching and administration, stressing that they also play a crucial role as moral guides within society.
He made the call while receiving the Executive Members of the Joint Consultative Forum (JCF) of Kano State–owned tertiary institutions, led by its Chairman, Dr. Badamasi Inuwa, during a courtesy visit to his office.
In a statement signed by the Press Secretary SSG office Musa Tanko stressed that, Alhaji Umar Faruk expressed satisfaction with the continuous flow of goodwill messages from education stakeholders, noting that their support reflects appreciation for the priority placed on the sector by the present administration. He highlighted that the proposed 2026 budget, with 30% of over N1.3 trillion allocated to education, underscores government’s firm commitment to human capital development.
“This is a clear testimony that we value education more than any other sector. It is the pivot around which meaningful human development revolves,” he stated. He urged education managers to intensify their efforts not only in producing academically capable graduates but also in nurturing a morally sound society, emphasizing that “education without morality is nil.”
Earlier, the JCF Chairman, Dr. Badamasi Inuwa, expressed gratitude for the warm reception and thanked Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf for approving over 85% of their demands, including salary adjustments and other essential needs. He assured that the Forum is ready to support the administration in achieving its developmental goals, noting that they can now “see the light at the end of the tunnel.”
In a related development, the National Parents Teachers Association of Nigeria (NAPTAN), Kano State Chapter, also paid a visit to the SSG. The association sought government approval to reintroduce the PTA levy—proposed at a minimum of one hundred naira per term—to support improvements in school infrastructure and enhance supervision of pupils’ behavior.
In his response, the SSG commended the association’s initiative, acknowledging the PTA as a key stakeholder in school development and moral upbringing of pupils. He encouraged them to continue their efforts and assured them of the government’s support where necessary.
He concluded by wishing both delegations a safe journey back to their respective destinations.
