The Rano Emirate has reiterated its unwavering commitment to the fight against drug abuse and illicit drug trafficking among youths and other residents across the emirate.

His Royal Highness, the Emir of Rano, Ambassador Muhammad Isa Umaru, made this declaration during a meeting with representatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) at his palace on Wednesday, May 28, 2025. The delegation, led by the Jigawa State Commander of NDLEA, Honorable Salisu Sa’adu Lili, visited the Emir to express appreciation for his consistent efforts in raising awareness about the dangers of drug abuse.

In his remarks, the Emir emphasized that the Rano Emirate remains steadfast in its stance against drug consumption and trafficking. He praised the NDLEA for its dedication and assured continued collaboration in sensitizing the youth on the dangers of substance abuse.

“The youth of Rano Emirate are a model of good upbringing and moral conduct wherever they may be,” the Emir stated. He also commended the NDLEA for its visit and acknowledged the agency’s efforts in combating drug-related crimes.

Earlier in the meeting, Honorable Salisu Sa’adu Lili explained that the visit was also meant to condole with the Emir over the recent tragic incidents involving the police and a young victim in Rano. He further expressed the agency’s gratitude for the Emir’s proactive role in organizing football matches and other youth engagement programs aimed at discouraging drug abuse.

The NDLEA also announced plans to hold a major sensitization program in the emirate soon, aimed at rallying youths against drug abuse and promoting a drug-free society.

In a separate event, the Emir also received the Managing Director of Access Bank, Alhaji Aminu Inuwa Taura, and the Galadiman Tauran, in preparation for the bank’s upcoming branch opening in Rano.
