President Tinubu Commends Nigerian Army for Securing Illela-Sokoto-Badagry Super Highway Project

Abuja – President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has lauded the Nigerian Army for their unwavering commitment to ensuring security along the Illela–Sokoto–Badagry Super Highway Project, praising their efforts in protecting personnel and equipment critical to the construction.
The commendation was conveyed by the Honourable Minister of Defence, His Excellency Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, CON, mni, during his operational visit to Kebbi State on Thursday, 8th May 2025. The Minister addressed troops of the Forward Operations Base Laager, responsible for securing the highway construction site, as part of his assessment of military operations in the state.
Highlighting the strategic importance of the project, the Minister emphasized that the Illela-Sokoto-Badagry Super Highway is a cornerstone of President Tinubu’s *Renewed Hope Agenda*, designed to enhance national connectivity, stimulate economic growth, and create employment opportunities. He described the highway as a transformative initiative that will significantly ease travel between Sokoto and Lagos while fostering commerce and regional development.
Addressing the troops, the Minister stated: *“You understand the significance of this road and the critical nature of your mission. The President directed me to visit, commend your dedication, and reassure you of his full support in this vital task.”*
The Minister’s visit underscores the Federal Government’s commitment to both infrastructure development and the welfare of security personnel ensuring the project’s success.
