NASENI Hails Tinubu’s ‘Nigeria First Policy’ as Catalyst for Industrial Revolution”—–As Agency Pledges Full Support, Urges Local Manufacturers to Uphold Quality Standards
The Executive Vice Chairman/Chief Executive Officer (EVC/CEO) of the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI), Khalil Suleiman Halilu, has lauded President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s newly introduced “Nigeria First Policy”, describing it as a game-changer for Nigeria’s industrialization and economic growth.
In a statement issued on Sunday, Halilu emphasized that the policy—which mandates preferential procurement of locally made goods—will accelerate Nigeria’s industrial revolution by empowering homegrown manufacturers, entrepreneurs, and tech innovators.
With Mr. President’s directive to the Bureau of Public Procurement (BPP) to enforce procurement guidelines favoring local suppliers, we anticipate a surge in demand for Nigerian-made products,” Halilu stated. “Government is the largest buyer of goods and services, and this policy will directly stimulate our economy.”
NASENI, as a leading advocate for indigenous manufacturing, has already taken proactive steps to promote local content through its “Made-in-Nigeria Strategic Focus Group”initiative. These nationwide engagements—held in Katsina, Lagos, Anambra, Delta, Kano, Kaduna, and Ogun—have brought together manufacturers, regulators, and entrepreneurs to address challenges and boost patronage of Nigerian products.
Halilu urged Nigerian producers to seize this historic opportunity while maintaining high standards. “This policy is not a free pass for mediocrity. We must deliver world-class products that compete favorably with foreign alternatives,” he asserted.
