Aliyu Jinjiri Kiru, the Primary Healthcare Center Coordinator in Kano Municipal Local Government has denied the purported report of the outbreak of measles which allegedly eliminated from him.
He described the report, which was published by an online newspaper as erroneous, and therefore be treated as such.
“I wish to make a clarification, to precisely counter the purported report of confirmed outbreak of measles in Kano Municipal which was wrongly attributed to me as untrue,” the Coordinator stated.
“I did not, at any point, make such announcement nor do I own the administrative authority to make such declaration.
“The media report sourced during EPR committee meeting and shared by SolaceBase was a mistake. What we said was that, ‘we have received suspected measles and diphtheria cases reports from health facilities within the LGA (including secondary facilities) with good intention of alerting all stakeholders in emergency preparedness & response to arouse their interest in supporting the PHC department in curtailing the situation in case it is confirmed,'” he clarified
Kiru then urged residents of the area not to panic, as the government is doing everything possible to improve healthcare delivery in the state.
He finally urged the media organizations to always verify their facts before going to the press.
