Maryam Idris Umar College of Education Pays Courtesy Visit to Emir of Rano

The Maryam Idris Umar College of Education, Kano, has paid a courtesy and educational visit to the Emir of Rano, Ambassador Dr. Muhammad Isa Umaru, at his palace.
In a statement signed by the Press Secretary Rano Emirate Council Nasiru Habu Faragai disclosed that, During the visit, the Provost of the College, Hajiya Bilkisu Abdullahi Turaki, who led the management team and students, stated that the visit was organized to congratulate the Emir on his one-year anniversary on the throne and to deepen the students’ understanding of the historic origins of the Hausa language and the cultural heritage of Rano Emirate—topics closely connected to their fields of study, including Hausa, Social Studies, and Geography.

She further explained that the college sought the Emir’s fatherly blessings and aimed to strengthen the cordial relationship between the institution and the Emirate Council. The Provost also revealed the college’s intention to establish a branch in Rano in 2026, as part of ongoing efforts to expand access to NCE programmes across Kano State.
Speaking on the college’s history, the Provost noted that it operates on a gender-focused model and appealed for the Emir’s continued support in promoting educational development, especially women’s education across the state.

In his response, the Emir of Rano, Ambassador Dr. Muhammad Isa Umaru, expressed gratitude for the visit and described it as a significant step toward strengthening institutional collaboration to improve the quality of education. He granted approval for the establishment of the college’s branch in Rano and assured the delegation of the Emirate Council’s readiness to provide the necessary support.
