A member of the Katsina State House of Assembly representing Dandume Constituency, Hon. Yahaya Nuhu Mahuta, has reaffirmed that peace deals initiated by communities remain the most effective and sustainable approach to ending banditry and kidnapping in Katsina State. Mahuta made the remarks while speaking with journalists on the renewed stability being enjoyed in previously troubled areas.

Mahuta explained that community-led peace agreements have significantly improved security and restored normal economic activities in several local government areas that had been plagued by persistent insecurity. He noted that the collaborative efforts of residents, traditional institutions, and religious leaders played a vital role in the success of these peace arrangements.

The lawmaker cited Dandume Local Government, which he represents, as one of the areas benefiting from the peace initiative. According to him, the community once faced frequent attacks and kidnappings, but has now regained stability and confidence through the effective implementation of the peace deal.

“Our people are now living in peace. Economic activities have fully resumed, and residents go about their daily businesses without fear of bandit attacks,” Mahuta stated. He stressed that the transformation experienced in Dandume is proof that dialogue-driven peace remains a practical solution for restoring long-term security.

Hon. Mahuta commended the communities, traditional rulers, and religious leaders for their commitment to ensuring the success of the peace initiative. He also applauded the Katsina State Government under Governor Dikko Umaru Radda for its continued efforts and support in tackling insecurity across the state.
