KNSG LAUDS BUK FOR TRAILBLAZING RESEARCH AND INNOVATIONS IN SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT

The Kano State Government has commended the Center for Gender Studies, Bayero University Kano (CGS-BUK) for its trailblazing work in advancing intensive research, innovation, and training programs aimed at achieving sustainable development and promoting social inclusion.
In a statement signed by Rabiu Khalil Kura the Director Public Enlightenment Kano State Social Protection Agency (KASPA) Announced that, The commendation was made during the 10th Anniversary Celebration of the Center for Gender Studies held at Bayero University Kano.

Representing the Executive Governor of Kano State, the Director-General of the Kano State Social Protection Agency (KASPA), Dr. Fateema Abubakar Abdullahi (Amneef), expressed the government’s appreciation for the Center’s dedication to research, training, and policy programs focusing on issues affecting vulnerable groups, women, and persons with disabilities.
She noted that the Center’s work aligns perfectly with the State Government’s ongoing social protection initiatives and its vision of inclusive growth and empowerment.
In his opening remarks, the Vice-Chancellor of Bayero University Kano, Professor Haruna Musa, highlighted the pioneering role of the Center, acknowledging the immense contribution of Her Excellency, Hajiya Amina Namadi Sambo, in its establishment.

He added that the success of the CGS-BUK has inspired other Nigerian universities to establish similar centers in their respective institutions.
Also speaking at the event, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Maitama Tuggar, praised the Center for its impactful and evidence-based research, noting that many of its findings have informed national and state-level policy formulations.
The highlights of the event included the presentation of awards to distinguished personalities, including Hajiya Amina Namadi Sambo, as well as the past and present Directors of the Center for Gender Studies, in recognition of their outstanding contributions to gender equity and sustainable development.
