the Federal Government Rural Electrification Agency has unveiled a new collaboration with the Kano State Government to provide renewable energy to 40 rural communities, aiming to rescue 10 million people from darkness.
This was disclose by The Chief Executive Officer Mastek Energy, the Company that will facilitate the project Dr. Mannir Aminu, during a visit to the Emir of Rano, Ambassador Muhammad Isa Umaru, in his palace.
Dr. Aminu added that this initiative is made possible through a partnership with the World Bank and Kano State Rural Electrification Agency.
The project focuses on connecting 40 communities, which will not only provide electricity but also contribute to economically viable communities.
Ten communities from Rano Local Government will benefit from this significant project which includes Yama, Hayin innai, Chakwaya, Saji Kofar fada, Shangu, Buran, Kafin Alhaji, Jangaru, Tarunu Kofar fada and Dadun.
Dr. Aminu solicited the support of the emirate and other stakeholders from benefiting communities to undertake a hitch-free electrification project.
He added that feasibility studies will be conducted, and the timeline for the project is three months.
In his remarks, the Emir of Rano, Ambassador Muhammad Isa Umaru, expressed his admiration and thanks to the Kano State Government, Mastek Energy, and the World Bank for undertaking this gigantic project that will positively impact the economic well-being of rural communities.
The Emir said the emirate will tender its support for the success of the project.
This effort aligns with the state’s goal of promoting sustainable energy development and improving the lives of its citizens.
