KNSG Approves Major Health Infrastructure Upgrades Under KHETFUND Initiative


Strengthens Healthcare Delivery with New Solar Systems, Equipment, and Facility Expansion Projects

The Executive Secretary, Kano State Hospitals Management Board, Dr. Mansur Mudi Nagoda, has announced that His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Kano State, Engr. Abba Kabir Yusuf, has approved a series of major infrastructural and equipment upgrades across selected health facilities under the Kano Health Trust Fund (KHETFUND) intervention program.

Public Relations Officer Kano State Hospitals Management Board disclosed that, The approved projects include, Solarization of Dambatta General Hospital and Abubakar Imam Urology Center (AIUC), Procurement of medical equipment for Tudun Wada and Doguwa General Hospitals and Expansion of the Accident and Emergency (A&E) Unit and construction of VIP toilets at Kwankwaso General Hospital

These strategic interventions are designed to modernize healthcare infrastructure, enhance efficiency, and improve patient experience across Kano State.

According to Dr. Nagoda, the solarization of Dambatta General Hospital and AIUC will ensure uninterrupted power supply for critical medical operations — including emergency services, laboratories, theatres, and maternity wards. He noted that the initiative will also reduce dependence on the national grid, lower operational costs, and promote environmental sustainability — aligning with Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s commitment to innovation and public welfare.

Similarly, the procurement of new medical equipment for Tudun Wada and Doguwa Hospitals will boost diagnostic capacity and strengthen clinical service delivery. The expansion of the A&E Unit and installation of VIP toilets at Kwankwaso General Hospital will provide a more dignified and comfortable environment for patients, visitors, and healthcare personnel.

Dr. Nagoda commended the dynamic leadership of Dr. Fatima Zaharaddeen, Executive Secretary of the Kano Health Trust Fund (KHETFUND), whose dedication and strategic coordination have driven transformative progress in the state’s healthcare sector. He emphasized that her visionary management continues to enhance infrastructure, expand access, and restore confidence in public healthcare delivery.

He further expressed gratitude to Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf for his continuous investment in healthcare, describing his actions as “a true reflection of compassion, foresight, and a deep commitment to the wellbeing of Kano citizens.”

The Executive Secretary reaffirmed the Board’s determination to ensure the successful implementation, maintenance, and sustainability of all approved projects in line with the Governor’s reform agenda and the collective vision for a healthier and more prosperous Kano State.
