KNSG and British American Foundation Commission Boreholes in Yandadi Fishing Community
The Kano State Commissioner for Water Resources, Hon. Umar Haruna Doguwa, has commissioned a solar-powered borehole in the Yan Kifi community of Yandadi Ward, Ghari Local Government Area. The project was facilitated by the British American Tobacco Nigeria Foundation in collaboration with the Kano State Government.
The Commissioner commended the foundation’s efforts in providing the large-scale solar-powered borehole, which has a capacity of 20,000 liters per day, alleviating the decades-long water scarcity faced by the community for over 20 years. This achievement comes under the administration of Engineer Abba Kabir Yusuf.
In his remarks, the Acting Chairman of Ghari LGA, Hon. Hashimu Sulaiman Garin Sheme, urged the community to establish a strong maintenance committee to ensure the sustainability of the borehole. He also expressed gratitude to the Kano State Government and the British American Tobacco Foundation for providing clean drinking water to the Yan Kifi community. Additionally, he praised the efforts of the LGA Chairman, Hon. Hashimu Garba Mai Sabulu, for his relentless advocacy, which contributed to the successful completion of the project.
On their part, the Yan Kifi community expressed immense joy and gratitude to God for the provision of the borehole—the 10th of its kind in the area. They also extended their appreciation to the British American Tobacco Foundation, the Kano State Government, and the leadership of Ghari LGA.
