KNSG and Accountant-General of the Federation Strengthen Collaboration for Economic Growth

The Deputy Governor of Kano State, Comrade Aminu Abdulsalam Gwarzo, on behalf of the Executive Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, received the Accountant-General of the Federation, Dr. (Mrs.) Oluwatoyin Sakirat Madein, on a courtesy visit aimed at fostering synergy and collaboration for sustainable economic growth and development.

During the meeting, Comrade Aminu Abdulsalam Gwarzo emphasized the urgent need to improve Kano’s Internally Generated Revenue (IGR), acknowledging the importance of federal allocations while stressing that financial independence is crucial for the prosperity of the state.

He noted that the Kano State Government has embarked on significant fiscal reforms, including restructuring the management of the Kano State Internal Revenue Service (KIRS) to expand the state’s revenue inflow.

The Deputy Governor highlighted the state’s commitment to implementing innovative reforms in the Public Financial Management (PFM) system to optimize financial resources and ensure judicious utilization of public funds.

He described the visit as a testament to the importance of collaboration between Kano State and the Federal Government in achieving fiscal sustainability.

Furthermore, Comrade Gwarzo reaffirmed the Kano State Government’s dedication to exploring joint initiatives that will drive economic diversification, infrastructural development, and human capital investment.

He assured that the administration remains committed to financial discipline, prudent management of public funds, and strategic economic planning.

In her remarks, the Accountant-General of the Federation, Dr. (Mrs.) Oluwatoyin Sakirat Madein, commended the Kano State Government for its proactive approach in strengthening the state’s economy.

She lauded the administration’s efforts in implementing key reforms that promote growth and development.

The visit underscored the commitment of both the Kano State Government and the Federal Government of Nigeria to fostering financial sustainability, transparency, and economic prosperity for the benefit of Kano residents.
