Kano State Task Force on Voter Mobilization Establishes Subcommittees for Targeted Outreach

In a strategic move to enhance its effectiveness, the Kano State Task Force on Mobilization of Voters Registration has announced its division into specialized subcommittees. The restructuring is designed to facilitate targeted engagement with key demographic groups across the state and ensure a comprehensive voter registration drive.
The announcement was made by the Task Force Chairman and Commissioner of Information and Internal Affairs, Comrade Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya, during a meeting held at his office on Monday.
To ensure a thorough and inclusive mobilization campaign, the Task Force has established the following subcommittees: which included; Publicity and Sensitization, Engagements with Local Government Areas, Engagements with Women Groups and Organizations, Engagements with Students and Youth Groups, Engagements with Religious Leaders.
Other Committees are,· Engagements with Traditional Institutions·, Engagements with the Business Community, Engagements with Civil Society Organizations, NGOs, and Persons with Disabilities, Information and Communication Technology (ICT),·Data Collection and Analysis as well as· Engagements with Transport Workers (NURTW, NATO, Tricycle Riders)
· Engagements with the Fulani Community.
Chairman Waiya explained that this decentralized structure is critical for ensuring smooth and direct interaction with all segments of society. “The formation of these subcommittees will allow for a more focused approach, enabling us to effectively deliver on our mandate to mobilize every eligible citizen to participate in the democratic process,” he stated.
He further charged each subcommittee to develop detailed engagement templates and a work plan within the next 72 hours for consideration and harmonization by the central coordinating team.
Comrade Waiya also conveyed the appreciation of His Excellency, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, for the Committee’s dedication since its inauguration. He urged all members to be guided by patriotism and a spirit of sacrifice in the crucial task of mobilizing residents to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs).
The meeting featured a capacity-building lecture from INEC Voter Education Officer, Mr. Garba Ashiru, who educated members on the intricacies of the voter registration process to better equip them for their public mobilization roles.
