Kano State Commissioner Issues 48-Hour Ultimatum to Contractors Over Delayed Healthcare Project— And Demands Immediate Completion of Kafin Maiyaki Cottage Hospital Renovation
The Honorable Commissioner of the Ministry for Public Procurement, Project Monitoring and Evaluation, Comrade Nura Ma’aji Sumaila, has issued a stern 48-hour ultimatum to contractors handling the renovation and upgrade of Kafin Maiyaki Primary Healthcare Center to a Cottage Hospital. The directive came during his statewide inspection tour to assess ongoing projects under the administration of His Excellency, Engr. Abba Kabir Yusuf.
Expressing deep dissatisfaction with the sluggish progress, Comrade Sumaila warned that the state government will not tolerate delays or substandard work.
“This is our third visit to this hospital, and the lack of significant progress is unacceptable,”he declared. The contractors have until Sunday afternoon to complete all pending work. Failure to meet this deadline will result in serious consequences.
In a related development, the Commissioner issued a one-week ultimatum to the contractor handling the Kiru five-kilometer road project, who had cited diesel shortages as a hindrance. Sumaila emphasized that the monitoring team would revisit the site within the week and warned of potential government sanctions if no visible progress is made.
The inspection tour also covered: 74km Madobi–Yako Road – H&M Construction Company Ltd. was commended and urged to expedite work.

Bebeji General Hospital – The contractor was directed to promptly address expert recommendations or face penalties.
Comrade Sumaila reaffirmed the Kano State Government’s commitment to timely, high-quality project execution for the benefit of its citizens.
