Kano RUWASA Commends Bebeji Communities for Progress in Ending Open Defecation

The Kano State Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Agency (RUWASA) has applauded communities in Bebeji Local Government Area for their commitment to eradicating open defecation in their area.

During an inspection tour to assess community response to the anti-open defecation campaign, the Managing Director of RUWASA, Engineer Shamwilu Abdulkadir Isah Tsamiyya Babba, represented by the Director of Planning and Community Mobilization, Hajiya Zahara’u Isiyaku Muktar Mede, praised the residents for their efforts. She urged them to sustain their dedication to environmental cleanliness, aligning with Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s administration’s efforts to improve social amenities across the state.

Alhaji Aminu Muhammad Durimin Zungura, Chairman of the Kano State Task Group on Sanitation, called on the Bebeji Local Government Council to provide full support to communities in maintaining sanitation and hygiene standards.

In response, Malam Nasiru, Head of the Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) Department in Bebeji, pledged continuous support to achieve the campaign’s objectives. He also appealed to RUWASA to rehabilitate boreholes to address water scarcity in the area.

Resource person Zuwaira Mansur expressed appreciation for the team’s efforts and assured sustained community cooperation, while also acknowledging the support of traditional leaders.

The event underscores RUWASA’s commitment to improving sanitation and access to clean water in rural communities.
