Kaburma Town in Tumfafi Ward Grapples with Acute Water Shortage; LG Pledges Swift Action

The community of Kaburma in Tumfafi Ward, Dawakin Tofa Local Government, is facing a severe shortage of clean drinking water, causing significant hardship for residents.
The crisis was highlighted by Mallam Alassan Alassan, a concerned resident, who informed the Local Government Chairman, Alhaji Anas Mukhtar Bello Danmaliki, that the town’s wells dry up just three months after the rainy season, leaving households without a reliable water source.

Mallam Alassan described the dire situation, stating that residents often wait for over six hours in queues of more than 40 people just to collect a single bucket of water. Many families struggle to access water for cooking, drinking, and basic sanitation, exacerbating health and living conditions.
He appealed to the local government to extend piped water from the neighboring town of Gangaren Dutse, emphasizing its proximity and existing water infrastructure as a viable solution.
In response, Chairman Alhaji Anas Mukhtar Bello Danmaliki expressed deep concern over the plight of Kaburma residents and assured them of immediate intervention. *”Water is a fundamental human necessity, and we will take urgent measures to alleviate this crisis,”* he stated.
The Chairman also provided updates on ongoing development projects, confirming that the road construction linking Kaburma to Daura Village is advancing steadily and will soon be completed.

In a separate development, the Dawakin Tofa Local Government received educational materials from the Kano State Government aimed at reducing illiteracy among members of the Vigilante Security Group. The donation includes writing boards, textbooks, exercise books, pens, and other essential learning tools.
Chairman Danmaliki praised the state government for its foresight and dedication to empowering grassroots communities through education. *”This initiative will enhance literacy and strengthen the capacity of our local security volunteers,”* he remarked.
The Local Government reaffirmed its commitment to addressing critical challenges and improving the welfare of residents across Dawakin Tofa.
