Hon. Abdullahi Aliyu Ahmed Disburses N54.27 Million Scholarship Allowances to 2,199 Students

The Chairman, House of Representatives Committee on Interior and Member representing Musawa/Matazu Federal Constituency of Katsina State, Hon. Abdullahi Aliyu Ahmed, has disbursed the sum of N54,270,000 as scholarship support to 2,199 students from his constituency studying in various tertiary institutions across Nigeria.

The disbursement, which took place on Saturday at the Musawa Local Government Secretariat, followed a rigorous screening exercise conducted by the constituency’s Education Committee across all political wards in Musawa and Matazu. A total of 1,029 university students received N30,000 each (amounting to N30,870,000), while 1,170 NCE and ND students from Colleges of Education and Polytechnics received N20,000 each (totalling N23,400,000).

Speaking during the ceremony, Hon. Ahmed said the intervention was designed to support students from less privileged families and ensure equal educational opportunities regardless of background or political affiliation. He emphasized that his political philosophy is rooted in youth empowerment through education, employment, skills development, and agricultural initiatives.

The lawmaker further revealed plans to secure 420 additional employment slots across all electoral wards in Musawa/Matazu as part of his ongoing efforts to combat unemployment. He noted that he had already facilitated 181 federal job placements for constituents in agencies such as the Federal Teaching Hospitals, Federal Fire Service, Nigeria Police, Nigeria Army, Immigration Service, and the NSCDC.

Hon. Ahmed also announced the provision of 500 brand new motorcycles to ease transportation challenges for youths within the constituency. According to him, although 350 motorcycles were initially procured, an additional 150 were purchased to accommodate more beneficiaries.

Highlighting other developmental strides, he disclosed the drilling of 200 boreholes across various communities and the ongoing construction of a Computer-Based Test (CBT) Centre in Jikamshi town.

In their goodwill messages, former Deputy Governor of Katsina State, Tukur Ahmed Jikamshi, urged beneficiaries to use the scholarship funds judiciously, describing the gesture as a strong motivation for academic excellence. The Executive Secretary of the Science and Technical Schools Board, Prof. Kabir Matazu, commended the lawmaker’s outstanding performance and announced the board’s endorsement of his second-term bid.

Earlier, the Chairman of Musawa Local Government, Hon. Aliyu Idris Gingin, praised the initiative as a major step toward expanding educational access and complementing the policies of Governor Dikko Umaru Radda’s administration.
