Defence Minister Badaru Receives Forum of Former Northern State Legislators, Endorsing Tinubu’s Re-election Bid

The Honourable Minister of Defence, His Excellency Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, CON, mni, has received a delegation of the Forum of Former State Legislators of Northern Nigeria (now in APC) on a courtesy visit at the Ministry of Defence Headquarters, Ship House, Abuja.

In statement signed by Mati Ali Personal Assistant (Media & Publicity) to the Honourable Minister of Defence disclosed that, The delegation, led by the Forum’s Chairman, Hon. Makpa Malla, former Chief Whip of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, visited the Minister on Wednesday, 22nd October 2025, to brief him on the group’s objectives and to formally declare their support for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

During the visit, Hon. Makpa Malla explained that the Forum was recently established to unite former legislators from Northern Nigeria who are members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) under one umbrella aimed at promoting peace, unity, and sustainable political development in alignment with President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

He stated that the Forum’s key mission is to mobilize grassroots support for President Tinubu’s second-term bid, consolidating the administration’s achievements and ensuring continued progress for Nigerians. The Forum also seeks to provide mentorship, strategic guidance, and policy advocacy to advance the government’s reform programmes.

Hon. Malla added that the visit was intended to seek the Minister’s counsel and blessings as the Forum’s Grand Patron, given his commitment to national development and unwavering support for the Tinubu Administration.

In his response, Defence Minister Badaru Abubakar commended the Forum’s vision and dedication to strengthening democratic values and political inclusivity. He described the initiative as “timely and laudable,” noting that it will further promote political unity, leadership continuity, and national cohesion.

The Minister urged members to remain steadfast in advancing peace, purposeful leadership, and constructive engagement that reflect the collective aspirations of Northern Nigeria and the nation at large.
