CALL FOR ACTION ON DEMOGRAPHIC DIVIDEND UTILIZATION IN KANO.

Stakeholders have called on Nigerians to harness the potential of the demographic dividend to achieve lasting social and economic benefits.
Speaking during a sensitization workshop organized by National population commission with the support of FCDO, Lafiya program, held in Kano, the Federal Commissioner of the National Population Commission (NPC), Dr. Aminu Ibrahim Tsanyawa, emphasized the urgent need for citizens to understand and utilize the demographic advantage.

He noted that Nigeria’s youthful population, if properly empowered through education, healthcare, and employment opportunities, could drive the nation’s development.
“The demographic dividend is not automatic. It requires deliberate policies and collective action. We must invest in our people now to reap the benefits tomorrow,”
Also speaking at the event, the Kano State Director of the NPC, Alhaji Balarabe Abdulkadir, reiterated the importance of community awareness in unlocking the dividend.
Balarabe Abdulqadir urged stakeholders across sectors to play active roles in ensuring that the growing youth population becomes a source of national strength rather than a burden.
The workshop was attended by religious leaders from various faith groups, civil society organizations, Eight Zonal Information Officers and other members of the media.
Further more the event highlighted the importance of aligning population management strategies with economic planning, stressing that Nigeria stands at a pivotal point to secure a brighter future, if the right steps are taken today.
