Speaking on behalf of the Forum, the former Commissioner for Special Duties and aspirant for the position of APC Chairman in Kano State, Alhaji Dr. Mukhtar Ishaq Yakasai, refuted the endorsement claim in strong terms. He stated that the Forum only honored a courtesy invitation from Senator Barau to discuss issues related to party progress, unity, and national development. “There is absolutely no truth in that report. It has no basis and no foundation,” he said.

Dr. Yakasai stressed that at no point during the meeting was the subject of endorsement raised. “There was no resolution, no agreement, and no suggestion that Senator Barau Jibrin was endorsed as our preferred candidate for 2027. Nothing close to that was mentioned,” he clarified. He also reaffirmed that the APC in Kano has established leadership structures under Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje and State Chairman Alhaji Abdullahi Abbas Sunusi, and the Forum remains committed to the party’s internal procedures for selecting candidates.

Addressing attempts to link him personally to a supposed endorsement, Dr. Yakasai described the claim as illogical. He noted that the APC has multiple aspirants such as A.A. Zaura, Murtala Sule Garo, and former Deputy Governor Dr. Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna, with more expected to show interest. “How can anyone claim I endorsed one individual when the race is still open and competitive?” he asked.

He urged APC members and the general public to disregard the fabricated story and focus instead on strengthening party cohesion. “Our members should ignore this baseless report. It is aimed at creating confusion. We remain committed to unity and the overall progress of the APC in Kano State,” he stated.

The Forum concluded by affirming its readiness to support the collective decision of the party regarding the choice of its 2027 governorship flag bearer.
