Vice President Kashim Shettima on Saturday commissioned major infrastructure projects executed by the Katsina State Government, launched new public transportation initiatives, and called on Nigerians to support the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027.

The Vice President commissioned the dualised 4.8-kilometre Kofar Sauri–Central Mosque Roundabout road, the 2.4-kilometre Central Police Station–Kofar Kaura road, and the 4-kilometre Filin Polo Road. The projects form part of the Katsina State Government’s urban renewal programme aimed at improving transportation and economic activities across the state.

Shettima also launched 30 Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) hybrid buses and 200 electric tricycles under the first phase of the state’s transport modernization initiative. In addition, he flagged off the disbursement of financial support to more than 40,000 women under the Nigeria for Women Programme Scale-Up (NFWP-SU).

Speaking during the visit, the Vice President commended Governor Dikko Umar Radda for implementing people-oriented projects, noting that the new roads would ease traffic congestion, improve mobility, and stimulate economic growth.

He urged beneficiaries of the Nigeria for Women Programme to invest the funds in productive ventures to achieve financial independence, assuring Nigerians that the Federal Government would continue working with states to improve the welfare of citizens.

Shettima said the economic reforms introduced by the Tinubu administration were designed to stabilize the economy and appealed to Nigerians for patience and understanding. He also called on citizens to support the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 general elections to sustain ongoing development initiatives.

Earlier, Governor Radda said the three road projects are among 12 major urban renewal projects being implemented by his administration. He added that additional road projects are ongoing in various parts of the state and commended the Federal Government for providing financial support that has enabled states to deliver more developmental projects.

Meanwhile, the Vice President received several opposition politicians into the APC during the visit. The defectors were led by prominent former African Democratic Congress (ADC) member, Mustapha Muhammad Inuwa.

Describing the defections as a significant boost for the APC ahead of the 2027 elections, Shettima attributed the development to Governor Radda’s performance in office. Inuwa, speaking on behalf of the new members, pledged their commitment to working for the victory of the APC in future elections.
