The Katsina State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to expanding affordable broadband access across the state through strategic investments in fibre-optic infrastructure aimed at accelerating digital transformation, economic growth, and improved public service delivery.
The initiative, being driven by the Katsina State Investment Promotion Agency (KIPA), seeks to enhance broadband connectivity for households, businesses, and government institutions, ensuring reliable and affordable digital services throughout the state.
Katsina Begins Distribution of Medical Supplies to Hospitals
As part of the initiative, KIPA, in collaboration with the Katsina State Urban and Regional Planning Board (URPB) and the Katsina Directorate of Information and Communication Technology (KATDICT), organised a stakeholders’ workshop to promote awareness on fibre-optic deployment, encourage investment opportunities, and address challenges affecting last-mile broadband connectivity.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, the Deputy Governor of Katsina State, Faruk Lawal Jobe, described digital connectivity as a critical pillar for economic development, job creation, innovation, and efficient public service delivery.
He noted that the administration recognises digital infrastructure as a strategic investment and reaffirmed the government’s determination to support initiatives that will extend broadband services to more communities across the state.
The Deputy Governor also urged telecommunications companies, Internet Service Providers (ISPs), and other private sector stakeholders to leverage the investment opportunities available in Katsina State to expand digital infrastructure and improve internet access for residents.
Earlier, the Director-General of the Katsina State Investment Promotion Agency (KIPA), Alhaji Ibrahim Tukur-Jikamshi, stated that the workshop forms part of the government’s broader strategy to translate investments in fibre-optic networks into improved broadband access and better digital services for consumers.
He explained that strengthening broadband infrastructure would not only enhance internet connectivity but also attract new investments, promote innovation, and position Katsina State as a competitive destination for technology-driven businesses.
The workshop brought together key stakeholders from government agencies, the telecommunications industry, and the private sector to discuss practical solutions for expanding fibre-optic deployment and improving digital connectivity across the state.
