By Mu’awiyya Bala Idris Katsina

The Katsina State Agency for the Control of AIDS has distributed drugs, test kits, laboratory consumables, and other essential items to hospitals and Primary Health Centres across the state.

The distribution exercise was flagged off by the Agency’s Executive Secretary, Dr. Bala Nuhu Kankia, who said the gesture was aimed at consolidating gains made in the fight against HIV/AIDS in the state.

Speaking at the event, Kankia described the distribution as part of the agency’s routine exercise, noting that it would continue on a sustained basis. He listed the Federal Medical Centre Daura, the Government House Clinic, and 24 Primary Health Centres as beneficiaries of the initiative.

He warned that the agency would monitor the utilisation of the items and would not hesitate to sanction any health facility found diverting them, cautioning hospital and health centre staff against misuse.

Kankia commended the state government for its continued support to people living with HIV/AIDS, and said the agency, alongside the government, would sustain advocacy and intensive enlightenment campaigns toward achieving zero new HIV/AIDS infections.
